Findings in Film…

Lately, I have been thinking about the ways in which research can be made more accessible online via DIY short film technologies such as PowToons. PowToon says it’s for business, but it works really well for academic work, too. The desire to make research more accessible to those outside of the Academy is a big part of my personal and professional politics, see here and here. Therefore, here is a short PowToon film I made about my PhD.

However, a problem with this kind of (free) software is how to add accessibility features like captioning/subtitles and/or audio description, to ensure that anyone can watch. I am in the process of figuring this out, but if you know how this might be done, don’t hesitate to pop me an email k.liddiard@sheffield.ac.uk.
